The world painted and tainted by my perceptions

MAIN character

We are all the main protagonist in our story. Constantly trying to improve ourselves and conquering quests and winning challenges

But at what point do we stop ?

I have seen people stopping at being able to have a safe life with financial security and a happy family.

I have seen people who never knew when to stop and sacrificed their own kins and friendships for the things the world had to offer.

I have seen people drinking their life away full of regrets and agony.

I have seen people not even try

And people who tried until their last breath.

I am sure you have seen them as well.

Its always an on and off. We either want to be drenched in the limelight or do not want to attract attention at all. We either want to create the flow or go with the flow. I see it prevalently everyday, people glossing up so much that if you had shown their pictures to me as a 12 year old kid in a third world country , I would have believed that they were a movie star. Its one thing to express yourself through fashion and a whole different side to dress up for validation. We all embrace being the main character so much that just doing slightly better than the average is not good enough anymore. You have got to be extra, sexier, flashier and more eloquent.

This

Becomes

a

pattern.

Since being more flamboyant than a flamingo is what everyone’s doing, we turn to minimalism. The other yang to this yin is to not stand out, to be mysterious. Just your average joe.

This post is not about fashion, not at all. But rather the actions that we take. Do you take the same actions when the world is not watching. Do you take the same path when no-one is walking alongside you ? Do you sleep well with all the thoughts you don’t share ? Do you still try when everyone is hoping you fall off ? Do you still strive when you have had it all? Do you still win when everyone is hoping you do ? Do you still write even if no-one reads?

We are both the action and the reaction. Life is a theater and we are all actors in it. I am sure you have acted out a mundane scenario in your life as if you were in a movie. Years ago, our ancestors would have been playing it out as if they were in novels and more years ago as if they were in folk tales. And some more years ago in biblical notes. We talk in stories.

Life is a theater and we are all actors in it. We are our own audience and our own characters. We are the orchestra and the story writers. We are our own comedies and our own tragedies. Maybe the tragedies were our bad jokes and our success the funny joke.

Notice how many I’s there were in this post compared to the yous. Notice how many I’s were statements and You’s were questions or assumptions. I remember something that my late grandma used to say. ” We have two ears and two eyes but only a single mouth. We need to listen twice as much, observe two times more and only speak half of what we listen and see”.
